Skin Care: Most Important, Yet Easily Forgotten

Skin care is a crucial factor for your own health as well as prior to any make-up application.  Some may feel that make-up hides a lot, but keep in mind that it can only hide a lot if you are wearing too much. Make-up application is not about looking like we have too much on, but bringing out certain characteristics on our faces to enhance them, and not by over-doing it.  This brings us back to our main topic of maintaining good skin care.  We hear about simple tips of how we can achieve beautiful skin quite often, but tend to ignore or forget, that being said, let’s refresh! ...

1.   AVOID SKIN TANNING:
Depending on our various different skin pigments, some may want to indulge in skin tanning.  Yes, it may add a bronze tone to your skin but at the same time you are sucking out the hydration that the body creates and needs to help recover and keep the elasticity of our skin.  The more we damage our skin with the sun, we have the tendency to have wrinkles earlier in life.  Keep in mind that temporary tanning will give you years of problems and will take away years of life away from your skin.  Another thing we have always heard about is skin cancer, Avoiding skin tanning will also decrease your chances of getting skin cancer, so make you choice wisely.

2.    USE SUNSCREEN:
We always hear dermatologists mentioning to wear sunscreen, even when it is not sunny or hot.  Think of it this way, if it protects against the suns harmful rays, it must also protect us from losing moisture.  The reason why a surface can burn is usually when the moisture amount is very thin or almost gone, hence why people get burnt in the sun after too much exposure and mostly when they do not wear any skin protection.

3.    DRINK LOTS OF WATER:
This one is a very obvious one, we all know that we should drink 8 glasses of water per day but tend to forget or not do it at all.  Drinking enough water keeps our overall skin hydrated, which aids with natural reconstruction of the skin.  It also helps with our natural elasticity of the skin.  While your skin is dry our skin’s elasticity is minimal, and that dryness also adds to more wrinkles at an earlier age.

4.    AVOID HOT SHOWERS:
Hot showers tend to suck out our natural moisture completely, and it usually takes a good while for it to recover.  Before the natural hydration comes back into our skin, we may face bad bacteria or dirt that can come in contact with our skin’s surface, causing a variation of different skin problems either on the surface of our skin or beneath the surface of the skin.
